Synthesis, Spectral Characterization and Antitubercular Study of Novel Quinoline Schiff Base and Its Metal Complexes

Synthesis of novel Schiff base from 2-hydroxy-6-methylquinolin-3-carbaldehyde and 4-methyl-benzenesulfonohydrazide has been carried out in the present work. Also, metal complexes Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II) Cd(II) have synthesized. were characterized by various analytical techniques such as CHN analyzer, XRD, FT-IR, UV-Visible, ESR, 1H NMR, 13C MASS TGA. Very low value molar conductance indicates non electrolytic nature complexes. The data shows that ratio to ligand is 1:2. FT-IR spectral suggest behaves a tridentate O, N, O donor system. Magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal paramagnetic behavior all except Cd-complex. Further, screened for their antimycobacterial activity against M. Bovis BCG tuberculosis H37Ra strains. Compounds 7, 8a, 8c & 8d exhibit very promising results MTB Among all, Cu-complex highest MIC (2.8) value.
